Garden Hose Reel Carts - what to consider

I have over 20 years experience in the hose reels field and in this blog I hopefully can offer some advice that will assist you. There are many things to consider when selecting a water hose reel, some are very obvious however there are some aspects that tend to be overlooked by many often ending up being disappointed after the reel is purchased.

The chances are you will be looking for a garden hose reel combined with a cart for mobility (if you have a hose reel and are now looking for a cart then that will be covered a bit later).

Some of things to think about in selecting and purchasing a suitable garden hose reel cart to suit your purposes are somewhat basic however like many things there are always unseen traps.

The first thing you will need to determine is what garden hose reel will best suit your needs so it is important to get the best hose reels advice.

I cannot offer full detail on all of these aspects in one single post or I would be writing a book so each of the following aspects will be covered in full detail in future posts so come back from time to time.

Some of the important considerations are (and as I said, some are obvious) - hose length, hose diameter (internal and external), hose type (pvc or rubber), and importantly the resultant weight of the hose when filled with water. This last point is critical in respect to the type, design and quality of the hose reel cart to be able to offer the best possible mobility - things like the types and sizes of wheels used on the cart, is balance, centre of gravity etc. Consideration of the ground over which the cart will be used is also an important aspect (e.g. over paving, stone paths, thick soft lawn and so on - or a combination thereof).

The stability of the hose cart is critical, no sense in having a garden hose reel on a cart if the cart is inclined to want to topple over in certain situations.

So as I said soon I will start posting on the specific considerations in detail - once I have covered each aspect you should be well and truly armed to make the best decision possible - so check back regularly.
